When I started this website my intention was to make a light hearted attempt at making fun of some of the dumb things we all do as divers.  After taking  a few pictures of people and watching some open water classes in action, I soon realized that most the bad divers out there don’t even realize they are bad divers.  How would they?  They are a product of their dive instructor.  

Now that I am older and wiser, I am getting back in the Dive Instructor game again.  Not because I think I will get rich or because I have the false macho ego thing going on, it’s because too many people are leaving their Open Water Classes with a new Certification Card that they didn’t really earn. 

What I mean by that isn’t that you didn’t complete all the drills or more importantly pay for the class, it’s do you feel comfortable enough to go out and plan a safe dive with you and your buddy at the local dive site?  If you lose your mask are you going to be ok?  What about if you're out of air, can you really handle it?  Can you maintain your buoyancy throughout a dive without bouncing off the bottom and playing with your power inflater?  Can you maintain a 3 minute safety stop at 15' without hanging on to something?  If you can’t answer all these questions with a yes then you are obviously questioning how safe you are in the water. 

If you don’t feel safe diving, you won’t have fun diving; if you don’t have fun diving you won’t dive. 

Now I hear all the time people say they had the best instructor in the world, but yet these are the same people who are mixing the sand and kicking coral on every dive. 

I won’t go into the advanced diver certification cards because I don’t have that much energy right now.  If you want to learn how to dive please give me a call.  I won’t hand you over a “C” card you didn’t earn just because you gave me some money.  Your life is more valuable to me than that.  If you are looking for an advanced dive card or higher I invite you to just go diving with me.  If you don’t think I have anything to offer you then no problem, at least we will get a dive in. 

Stay safe and remember, diving is only fun if you feel safe and comfortable in the water!   Don’t let anyone tell you that your ready to go out diving on your own when you know damn well your not.
